Immigration counsel from an immigrant's perspective
Removal defense - Asylum - Green cards and citizenship
Godfrey Y. Muwonge is a Senior Attorney at BIRG Law. He has practiced immigration law for more than 25 years and came to it the way many of his clients do: as an immigrant who went through the U.S. immigration process himself and later became a naturalized citizen.
His practice covers deportation and removal defense before the immigration courts, asylum and protection for people who fear harm in their home countries, ICE detention and bond, green cards including those for victims of crime and domestic violence, citizenship and naturalization, work permits, and employment and investor visas, as well as appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the federal courts.
Before joining BIRG Law he led his own immigration practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, founded in 1997, and wrote an instructional series on removal defense for the public. He is the author of Immigration Reform: We Can Do It, If We Apply Our Founders' True Ideals (University Press of America, revised edition 2010), selected by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's National Chamber Foundation as one of its top ten "Books that Drive the Debate".
Godfrey earned his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 1997.
